Graham Gaskell - Driver |
Graham is
32 years old and is getting a bit long in the tooth for this
fast driving really!! He has aspired to be a rally driver since his Dad
used to take him to watch the Lombard rally when he was a kid. He lives and
works in Newcastle now after spending most of life in Ambleside, Cumbria. His rallying career started
in April 2000 as a semi-pro (we use the term loosely) car builder, he purchased a Vauxhall Nova rally shell to build into a
rally car (more on this in the car spec. section). Graham actually started
to compete in September 2000 in his first event which was at the now infamous Great Orton airfield (Yes, the one full
of dead cows and stuff!) From there he went on to compete in his first
forest rally in the famous Grizedale complex and was immediately hooked on forest
rallying. He has since spent hundreds of pounds building a car which is
suitable for the job and never looked back. He works for a train company
as a Train Guard and spends most of his life between London and Newcastle, but still likes to go back to his old trade of aerial and
satellite fitting now and again just to keep his hand in!! He won the
Kirkby Lonsdale Motor Club championship 1300cc section in 2001, 2002 and 2003
but due to other commitments now just competes on selected events.

Co-Driver |
At the moment I have a different
co-driver for each event. I am looking to find someone who can commit for
a full season and preferably be able to read a map!!!

Ian Davies - Service
Technician |
Difficult
to believe we trust this man to run our rally car isn't it!!! Ian is a fully qualified mechanic and
started to help us out in 2000 after the Grizedale stages. He became the
backbone of the team when his dad's garage sponsored us but he stopped coming to
events when a rather controlling woman came into his life!!! Realising
that rallying was a lot less hassle than women he quickly kicked her into touch
and is now back helping out again. Here you can see Ian telling us all
that she had no lasting effect on him whatsoever and that he is still perfectly
normal!!!

Ali Newton - Service Technician |
Ali has been with us right
from the start back in December 2000 on the Grizedale Stages. He has a
keen interest in rallying and he played a fundamental part in persuading me to
carry on after my accident in 2003. He and his girlfriend Rachel have been
friends of mine for many years and his support has also extended to his company sponsoring
us on each rally we do. Cheers mate.

Steve Collins - Service Technician |
Steve is one of Grahams Geordie
drinking companions, although by my own admission I don't understand a word he
says!! We met through his girlfriend and Steve soon got the bug for
rallying. He works at Finning Cat in Newcastle fixing diggers and other
big yellow things (including the Nova, although strictly speaking its a little
yellow thing!!). He did consider navigating for the team but we all
decided he was better with a spanner than a map, oh and he reckons he's skint
(even with all the overtime he works!!!)

The Very Best Of The Rest |
It is important to stress that this is
only a few of the people required to make an event happen and that literally a
small army of people go into making each rally a success. These include
people who come along to rallies to help, the organizers of the events
themselves and the car sponsors without whom we could not continue. Also
thanks to my Mum and Dad, who especially during the early days, regularly forfeited
their board payments to support my hobby!! Massive
thanks to you all.
